First, a quick reminder: All workshops and lectures this weekend will be held at The Vancouver Masonic Centre (1495 West 8th Avenue).
VISS 2015 is just a few days away! For everyone attending here’s a quick rundown of when and how things are happening.
Thursday
5pm to 11pm: Check in!
Initial check-in is Thursday evening at Academie Duello (412 W Hastings St, Vancouver).
This is where you can pick up your name tag and itinerary. You will also pick up your program guide and t-shirt (if you ordered one) and sign your safety waiver. If you haven’t already chosen your workshops you can do so at this time.
Special Note:If you are renting a mask for the weekend you must pick it up Thursday night so that it can be fitted properly.
Friday
All workshops and lectures will be taking place at The Vancouver Masonic Centre (1495 West 8th Avenue)
8:15-9am: Orientation & Rentals Table Open
9-10am: Welcoming Ceremony
10am-1pm: Morning workshops; Coached Sparring (3rd floor lobby)
1-2pm: Lunch; Open Sparring (3rd floor lobby); Orientation & Rentals table Open
2-5pm: Afternoon workshops; Coached Sparring (3rd floor lobby)
5-5:30pm: Orientation & Rentals table Open If you are not sparring Friday evening then gear can remain at the Masonic Centre
At Academie Duello:
6pm-11pm: Open Sparring time and Master Class auditions
Master classes on Saturday are designed for intermediate to advanced students who wish to study more in-depth. Instructors will approve students after assessing them during various drills and exercises.
Saturday
At the Masonic Centre:
8:15-9am: Orientation & Rentals Table Open
9am-12pm: Morning workshops and lectures; Coached Sparring (3rd floor lobby)
12-2pm: Lunch; Open Sparring (3rd floor lobby), Orientation & Rentals Table Open
1-5pm: Afternoon workshops and lectures; Coached Sparring in the 3rd floor lobby
5-5:30pm: Orientation & Rentals Table Open
At Academie Duello:
7:30pm-midnight: Gala Party!
If you don’t already have a gala ticket they can be purchased right up to Saturday evening!
Sunday
8:15-9am: Orientation & Rentals table Open
9am-12pm: Morning workshops and lecture; Coached Sparring in the 3rd floor lobby
12-2pm: Lunch; Open Sparring in the 3rd floor lobby; Orientation & Rentals Table OPEN
1-5pm: Afternoon workshops and lectures; coached sparring in the 3rd floor lobby
5:00-5:30pm: Closing Ceremony
5:30-6:00pm: Orientation & Rentals Table Open All gear needs to leave the Masonic Centre on Sunday evening
At Academie Duello:
7-11pm: Open Sparring; Orientation & Rentals Table open
Everything Else
Private Lessons: There are opportunities for private lessons with VISS instructors! These cost $100/hr and can be arranged at the registration table each day. Times will fill up fast though so book early and book often.
Coached Sparring: Get direct feedback on your sparring. This is happening throughout each day in the third floor lobby of the Masonic Centre.
