Intensive Track Spotlight: Single-Handed Cutting Swords

Join us for a weekend-long symposium dedicated to the art of historical swordplay. This year’s event offers three focused training tracks: Two-Handed Weapons, Single-Handed Cutting Swords, and Dueling Swords, each designed to challenge and elevate your practice.
Attend one, or both, of these 9-hour single-handed cutting sword intensives:
Devon Boorman — Bolognese Sidesword & Buckler: From Form to Fight
Sword & buckler is a dynamic and effective discipline that was central to the Bolognese schools of fencing in 16th-century Italy. Across three focused days, you’ll dig into the Bolognese tradition through the lenses of Marozzo and Manciolino—first establishing clean mechanics, then applying tactical choices, and finally building strategic control you can carry into sparring.
Eric Myers — Classical Italian Saber, a Living Tradition
Italian saber burst onto the European scene in the 19th century, and quickly became famous for its speed and power. This was neither a new weapon nor a new tradition, but an approach from centuries old Italian traditions to teaching and fencing with a slightly lighter weapon than the standard service weapons of the day. In this class you will learn the fundamentals of classical Italian saber from several sources, and then explore several iconic elements of the system, such as circular cuts, stop cuts, actions on the blade, and expulsions. You’ll develop comfort and familiarity with the actions in an environment that emphasizes drilling reps and practice.
Will you take up the Sword in the Pursuit of Mastery?
