Whether you’re a rider hoping to introduce your horse to mounted combat, or a complete beginner in the saddle wanting to try out some Fiore plays on horseback, the potential for the Dunning-Kruger effect is strong: ie, you don’t know what you don’t know.
Over the last fifteen-plus years, Jen Landels has been finding out what the fight books never bothered to tell us about fighting from the saddle—possibly because horses and horsemanship were a part of daily life in mediaeval and early modern Europe.
In this 90 minute session Jen will cover the pieces you need to put in place to get started with mounted combat—logistically, physically, and conceptually—and give you hands on practice with some of Fiore’s mounted plays, incorporating the breadth, measure, and techniques needed when performing them from the saddle.
